The Northland College Winds will kick off the concert series with their performance, “Christmas in the Wind,” on Tuesday, Dec. 4. The symphonic band will perform several holiday selections, including an arrangement of "Personent Hodie" from Piae Cantiones (1582) and the Chip Davis (Mannheim Steamroller) arrangement of Stille Nacht.
“There will be finely crafted settings for symphonic and jazz band, as well as orchestra, featuring some of the most beautiful music of the season, including some lesser known melodies,” said Joel Glickman, conductor and instrumental music director at Northland College.
In addition, the Northland College Winds will also offer a treatment of "Twas In The Moon Of Wintertime," a Canadian carol originally written by a Jesuit Missionary. The carol first appeared in the Huron Indian language and was adapted to a 16th century French tune. Other selections will include more mainstream Christmas songs.

The performance will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alvord Theatre at Northland College. The orchestra will play a collection of tunes from film, traditional carols andtime-honored pop standards. The concert features arrangements, including “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Polar Express,” “Ding Dong! Merrily On High!” and more.
