Hometown Holiday Season Begins on November 24

Bayfield, Wisconsin will begin their holiday festivities with the annual Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony and mini-concert by the Rittenhouse Singers on Saturday, November 24 at 4:30 pm.

Chequamegon Bay residents are invited to enjoy festive carols and complimentary treats as Bayfield marks the onset of the holiday season with the annual Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony on Saturday, November 24th, at 4:30pm, in the Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion. The highlight of this traditional event is a mini-concert of seasonal music by the acclaimed Rittenhouse Singers choral group. "We are thrilled to have the Rittenhouse Singers back again this year," says Cari Obst, executive director of the Bayfield Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Bureau. "Their music just puts everyone in the holiday spirit." The Rittenhouse Singers perform at the Rittenhouse Inn's Wassail luncheon and dinner concerts, held from December 1st through 23rd this year.

In addition to the festive music, the Bayfield Chamber will be providing warm beverages and plenty of holiday cookies to all attending, many donated by local businesses and community members. Following the concert, guests will be invited to gather outside and celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with the ceremonial lighting of Bayfield's community tree. This event is free and open to the public.

The tree lighting is just one of several Hometown Holiday events being sponsored by the Bayfield Chamber, including:

  • The Holiday Spirit Gallery Tour on Saturday, Dec. 1st, from 10am to 5pm, featuring demonstrations, refreshments, and sales at 7 local art studios
  • Bayfield's Community Holiday Shopping Night on Friday, Dec. 7th, from 5pm to 7pm, with a portion of the evening's proceeds being donated to the Bayfield Area Food Pantry (with a matching donation of up to $1,000 by the Bayfield Chamber)
  • Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on the Madeline Island Ferry on Saturday, Dec. 8th from 11:30am to 1pm at the Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion where snacks and hot cocoa will be provided, and children will receive a small gift bag.
