Question: Are Archery Antlerless Deer Carcass Tags valid in State Park Deer Management Units?
Answer: Archery antlerless deer carcass tags are valid in State Park Deer Management Units for the 2013 deer season. The only exception would be if a State Park was located totally within a DMU that did not have an antlerless quota established (i.e. buck only units), which is not the case given the 2013 deer season structure.
Question: The 3rd archery antlerless tag that came with my archery license states: Valid only in the following units, see deer management in deer regulation book. My question is what unit cannot I use this tag in?
Answer: The deer carcass tag that is titled as the Archery Antlerless Deer Carcass Tag is not valid for units 7, 29b, 34 and 39, which are considered “buck only” units. These units can be located on the deer management unit map in the 2013 Wisconsin Deer Hunting regulations publication. It is also explained on page 19, where it explains the tag is valid for certain disabled hunters statewide, including in the buck only units.
Question: How do I qualify for a free farmer antlerless tag?
Answer: Eligible resident farm owners can receive one free unit-specific Antlerless Deer Carcass Tag for each bonus unit-specific Antlerless Deer Carcass Tag they purchase for the same unit. Antlerless Deer Carcass Tags are only available for regular units, and went on sale at 10 A.M. on Aug. 17 (see page 7) of the deer hunting regulations publication. To qualify, a majority of the land on the farm must be used on a commercial basis, for an agricultural purpose, and to provide income during the year that the permit is valid. In addition, the farm must be located wholly or partially in the deer management unit for which the landowner is requesting the free tag. If there are joint owners or vendee names under a land contract, only one of the owners is eligible for the free unit-specific Antlerless Deer Carcass Tag.
Question: Are antlerless permits still available?
Answer: It depends on the deer management unit. Some have sold out and others have not. Antlerless availability is updated on our website in real time. For a list of availability, just visit http://dnr.wi.gov/permits/bonusavailability.html
