Title (Max 100 Characters)
Question: When can I purchase a new license for 2013?
Answer: New licenses will be available for purchase starting on March 6.
Question: Are there any deer management units still open for archery season?
Answer: Archery season is open in the following herd control metro deer management units through January 31: Unit 1M, 59M, 60M, 64M and 77M. CWD metro unit 76M is not included, and the season in 76M ended on January 6.
Question: Why was I awarded a time period that I didn’t apply for in the spring turkey drawing?
Answer: If you chose a 3rd zone choice, you would go into the drawing for the first available time period in that zone. A 3rd zone choice should only be made if you are willing to accept a permit for any time period in that zone; and, only if all zone 1 and 2 permits were filled when your application was drawn.
Question: Is the turkey drawing completed yet for the 2013 season?
Answer: Yes. The drawing has been completed and posted to customer records. Notices were in the mail on January 14. Left-over permit will go on sale the week of March 18. Here is the website for availability - http://dnr.wi.gov/permits/springturkey.html
Question: Can someone who has had their fishing license revoked still fish during the free fishing weekends? What about if they lost their fishing privileges?
Answer: If a person has had their fishing licenses and fishing privileges revoked, they may not fish during the free fishing weekend. Even though a license is not needed, fishing without a license is a privilege granted under Ch. 29, Stats. So if their fishing privileges or all Ch. 29 privileges have been revoked, they may not fish during either the summer or winter free fishing weekends.
Question: Can a UTV plow snow if all of the ATV snow removal laws are followed?
Answer: Yes, a UTV can be used in the same fashion although they are subject to local ordinances, just like ATVs. Please see the publication, ATV Snow-Removal Laws, for some great information. Changes to State Statutes 23.33 can be found in the document 2009 Act 367 http://www.legis.state.wi.us/2009/data/acts/09Act367.pdf
